- Excursion to Figueres and the Salvadour Dali Foundation
Day 1 - London to Rosas
We travel on a Eurostar from St Pancras International to Paris, where we join the direct service to Figueres in Spain; the fastest and most convenient route to our destination. From Figueres we make the short transfer by coach to Rosas, our base for the next seven nights. Located on the ruggedly beautiful Catalan coast, Rosas is an authentic Spanish fishing port that retains its original charm and style. An almost endless stretch of fine sandy beach sweeps around the Bay of Rosas, set against a backdrop of the distant Pyrenees mountain peaks. We stay at the 3* Hotel Mediterraneo Park, located close to the beach and town centre. (D)
Days 2-3 - Coastal cruise & at leisure
Today we explore the fantastic coastline with a fabulous cruise to Cadaqués. Set in its own crystal-clear bay, Cadaqués is a picturesque fishing village of charming white-washed houses, which was the inspiration for much of Salvador Dalí's work. After free time to explore the village and to arrange lunch, we cruise back along the coast to Rosas. On Day 3 you are free to spend the day relaxing in Rosas or exploring the region. Spend your day on the beach or in one of the cafés on the promenade. You could discover Rosas further at your own pace or explore the fabulous marina, alive with activity and filled with expensive yachts. (Day 2-B,D; Day 3-B,D)
Days 4-5 - Barcelona and at leisure
On Day 4 we travel to the magnificent city of Barcelona, a real city of style, bursting with culture and packed with beautiful, unique architecture. Our guided city tour takes in the main sights, including the fantastic Sagrada Familia and the bustling Las Ramblas. Following the tour you have plenty of time to explore the city in more depth; take the chance to discover the superb Picasso Museum in the Barri Gotic and spend more time on Las Ramblas, the beating heart of Barcelona. Day 5 is free to spend exploring the region or relaxing on the beach. (Day 4-B,D; Day 5-B,D)
Days 6-7 - The Salvador Dalí Foundation
We travel to Figueres today, where we visit the fascinating Salvador Dalí Foundation (entrance included). After time to appreciate the incredible and diverse works of the famous surrealist artist, you are free to continue exploring Figueres at leisure. We then visit the historic town of Besalu, a rather grand old town dominated by its magnificent 11th century fortified bridge. Day 7 is at leisure to relax, or further explore the local area. (Day 6-B,D; Day 7-B,D)
