The 12-passenger La Belle Époque is a state-of the-art luxury hotel barge which benfited from a major refurbishment in 2011. She has been designed with both elegance and passenger comfort in mind and offers a host of luxurious facilities, including a sun deck, spa-pool, fitness studio, chartroom, and wood panelled saloon and dining room. She provides the opulence of a top class hotel with ever-changing Burgundy scenery.

Sistership to L’Impressionniste, La Belle Epoque is a luxurious hotel barge accommodating 12 passengers per journey. A historic ship, La Belle Epoque was built in 1930 to carry logs from Burgundy to Paris and Amsterdam. Now refurbished as a luxury river cruise ship, La Belle Epoque carries guests on a historic tour of some of Europe’s most famed waterways.

For your comfort and relaxation, the ship offers a sun-deck and spa pool. The sun-deck has both covered and uncovered areas with a six-person hot tub, tables, umbrellas and comfortable seating. When the weather permits, you may opt to enjoy wine, snacks and even meals outside.

The fully air conditioned interior includes a wood panelled saloon, dining room and seven spacious cabins. The “always-open”, open bar is inclusive and compliments a menu of regional specialities, wines and cheeses. The spacious, comfortable saloon features a curved sofa, armchairs, a bar, stereo and library.

Bicycles and optional shore excursions ensure you’ll have time to stretch your legs and explore local culture, history and scenery.




Services begin with a transfer from the Hotel Westminster in Paris to the hotel barge.

Day 1: Tanlay

Please note that this is a sample itinerary and may be subject to change. On alternate weeks the cruise will operate in reverse direction. Take your transfer from Paris and board the barge which will be moored in Tanlay. Here you are welcomed by the crew who will be waiting with champagne and canapes. Take some time to settle in to your cabin and then enjoy your first dinner on board and an introduction to Burgundy's excellent cuisine.

Day 2: Tanlay - Lezinne

Wake to the aromas of ground coffee and French pastries and enjoy a leisurely breakfast on board. There is a morning cruise to Lezinne with the opportunity to cycle or walk into the picturesque 16th century village, Saint Vinemer. After lunch you will visit the Renaissance-style Chateau de Tanlay which sits serenely within the village. Dinner will be served back on board the barge.

Day 3: Lezinne - Ancy le Franc

After breakfast enjoy a leisurely cruise to ancy le Franc, with plenty of opportunies to walk or cycle ahead of the barge. Lunch will be taken in a local auberge and then you will visit the vineyards and town of Chablis. Enjoy a private wine tasting at the Domaine Billaud Simon, renowned for its Premier and Grand Cru wines.

Day 4: Ancy le Franc - Ravieres

This morning brings you to medieval Noyers sur Serein where you can admire the local produce in the wonderful market or take a stroll around the ramparts of one of the most beautiful villages in France. Return to the vessel and ascend through the locks towards Chateau d'Ancy le Franc. After lunch you will have an opportunity to visit the 16th century palace and gardens.

Day 5: Ravieres - Montbard

Take a leisurely cruise to Montbard and enjoy the many walking or cycling opportunities en route. After lunch there will be a guided visit to the exquisite UNESCO World Heritage Site of Abbaye de Fantenay, founded in 1118 by St Bernard.

Day 6: Montbard - Venerey les Laumes

Take a morning cruise through woodlands and rolling fields with some great biking and walking opportunities as you pass the tiny canalside villages of Nogent, Courcelles and Les Granges. In the afternoon there will be time to take a stroll around the hilltop village of Flavigny sur Ozerain, where the film 'Chocolat' was made. You will also have free time to enjoy the town of Semur-en-Auxois before returning to the barge for the Captain's Farewell Dinner.

Day 7: Venarey les Laumes

After a final breakfast on board, bid farewell to La Belle Epoque and take a transfer back to Paris.


Disembark for your transfer back to the Westminster Hotel in Paris.
