Ancient Egypt

Discover the wonders of Ancient Egypt on this popular holiday which gives the best chance to see as many as of Egypt’s outstanding tombs, temples and monuments as possible.

Itinerary

Day1: Fly to Luxor. Depart UK for Luxor. Transfer to the ship (approx 20 minutes) for your cruise.

Day 2: Luxor to Edfu
Early morning visit to the West Bank to the Valley of the Kings, and Queens, hatshepsut’s Temple and Colossi of Memnon. Return for buffet lunch and departure for the lock at Esna. After dinner, enjoy an informal cocktail party to meet the management of the boat. Overnight in Edfu.

Day 3: cruise to Aswan
Morning visit to the Temple of Edfu and the local market. Lunch will be served en route to Aswan for a two-night stay. Evening Galabeya party in traditional Egyptian costume.

Day 4: Aswan
Morning visit to the high Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae. In the afternoon sail by felucca around Kitchener’s Island and its Botanical Gardens. After dinner, there will be an Egyptian style ‘treasure hunt’.

Day 5: Aswan to Kom ombo
At leisure or an optional excursion to the Temple of Abu Simbel, by coach (approximately £70) or by air (approximately £180). Afternoon optional excursion to a Nubian Village. Late afternoonthe boat will sail to Kom Ombo. Dinner, evening entertainment and overnight on board.

Day 6: cruise to luxor
At leisure, as the boat heads to Luxor. After dinner, enjoy the delights of a traditional belly dancer.

Day 7: luxor
Morning visit to the Temple of Karnak, the papyrus museum and the perfume shops of Luxor. Afternoon visit to the Temple of Luxor. Evening, optional excursion to the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple.

Day 8: Fly from Luxor to Cairo for a 3 night stay at
your chosen hotel.

Day 9: Optional morning visit to see the Great Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx. Afternoon at leisure, time to relax by the pool or to do some shopping in the many bazaars. In the evening a chance to take an optional excursion to see the fantastic Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids.

Day 10: Optional morning excursion to the Egyptian Museum to see the treasures of Tutankhamen. Afternoon at leisure or you may want to take one of our optional tours to the stunning mosques of Islamic Cairo and the intriguing early churches of Coptic Cairo. In the evening, enjoy an optional dinner cruise on the Nile whilst watching a traditional folklore show.

Day 11: Transfer to the airport for the short flight to Luxor. On arrival transfer to your hotel for a stay of 4 nights.

Days 12-14: Opportunity to relax and enjoy the facilities of the hotel and resort. Take a balloon trip over the Nile or a stroll through the colourful streets of Luxor.

Day 15: Late afternoon flight back to UK. Morning at leisure before transferring to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
