Day 2 - Discovering Kilkenny

Today, we enjoy a tour of Kilkenny, a popular tourist destination which is located on the banks of the River Nore. We see the 12th century Kilkenny Castle, which dominates the 'High Town', St Canice's Cathedral, which has been a place of worship for over 800 years and the monastic ruins at Jerpoint Abbey. We also visit Nicholas Mosse Pottery, one of Ireland's best known potteries, to see how they make their beautiful hand-crafted ceramics. Following the tour you have free time to explore at your own pace, before we enjoy dinner together at our hotel this evening. (B,D)

Day 3 - Waterford & the Suir Valley Railway

We travel by rail through the beautiful Irish countryside to Waterford. On our arrival we enjoy a guided tour of Ireland's oldest city, which is home to a number of beautiful and historic sights. Following the tour, you have some free time to explore. You may wish to visit the Waterford Museum of Treasures, which features unique displays of Viking artefacts. We then embark on a journey aboard the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway. We experience the beauty of the Suir Valley, as our narrow-gauge heritage train makes its way through beautiful countryside which is only accessible by train. We return to Kilkenny and enjoy dinner back at the hotel. (B,D)

Day 4 - At leisure in Kilkenny

Spend the day relaxing in Kilkenny, exploring the region further, or perhaps join our optional excursion to the Rock of Cashel, the ancient seat of the kings of Munster. We also visit Cahir Castle, one of Ireland's largest castles. (B)

We travel by rail to the charming and historic city of Dublin. Here, we enjoy a panoramic tour of Dublin that sees many of the city's main attractions, before visiting the Guinness Storehouse, where you can enjoy a tour of the historic building, learn about the production process and enjoy a pint of the 'blackstuff' while overlooking
Dublin. In the afternoon we venture out to Glendalough, home to a number of
archaeological and historical sites of great interest, such as a large 6th century monastery. Tonight we will stay at the 3* Sandymount Hotel in Dublin and enjoy dinner together. (B,D)
